Leaving collection tracker

Keep the whip-round straight: who has put in, how much, who has signed the card, and what is still needed for the gift. The list stays on your own device.

Your collection list

Saved on this device only, in this browser. No money goes through this page and nobody else can see the list.

A jar on the windowsill works, until someone asks who has put in.

How to use it

Paste in the names of everyone being asked, one a line or separated by commas. Add the gift's cost if you know it. Then, as people give, type what they put in and tick when they sign the card.

When the pot is counted, the name print is a gift from the whole team: their name, job, years and workplace in type.

The total, what is still needed and who has not signed yet update as you go. "Copy the summary" gives you a few lines to send round the team.

How it is worked out

The total is everything typed in. What is still needed is the gift's cost minus the total. That shortfall is shared between the people who have not given yet, rounded up to the next penny so it is always covered. The even share is the cost divided by everyone on the list, rounded up the same way.

It's arithmetic on the amounts you type. Nobody has to give, and a fair collection lets people put in what they can without anyone checking.

The money stays with whoever holds the envelope. The tracker only keeps the count.

What it does not do

No money passes through this page. It doesn't take payments, send reminders or share the list. Everything is saved in this browser on this device, so it will be there next time you open the page here, and nowhere else. "Clear the list" removes it.

For the rest of the organising, see organising a group retirement gift. To pick a gift that fits the pot, the spend picker shows each print's price per person.

A few practical answers

Does this collect the money?

No. It is a list for the organiser. Money is collected however your workplace usually does it, and you type in what each person gave.

Where is my list kept?

In this browser on this device only. Nothing is sent to us or anyone else. If you clear your browser data or use another device, the list is not there.

How is the amount each person still needs worked out?

What is still needed for the gift, divided by the people who have not given yet, rounded up to the next penny.
